I recognize that the past year has been quite monotonous to say the least. We have basically seen the same people and the same things day in and day out. So to change my much needed routine my older sister and I planned a weekend getaway. I didn’t venture too far off from where I live, but I made it a point to get out of my city.
Last weekend my sister flew from the Bay Area to Orange County, which is where we spent our morning. We treated ourselves to some much needed “TLC” (tender, love and care), which consisted of coffee to wake us up, and a pedicure for our rough feet. After feeling slightly refreshed from our mini foot massage we made our way to Santa Barbra. We stayed at the Mar Monte Hotel, in the Unbound Collection at Hyatt. Our room had a beautiful beach view, and we got to take our sweet time doing whatever our hearts desired: be beach bums, enjoy the ocean breeze, take a walk, and appreciate the view as we were seated on the balcony at the hotel.
We enjoyed the beach, tried a fancy doughnut shop that I had been eyeballing on Instagram for some time, and tried a new restaurant. Prior to this getaway I was that person that would say “why would I pay to stay somewhere so close to me over night?” Once I did it, I finally realized why people enjoy these experiences. It was refreshing to remove myself from my usual day-to-day routine of work, cleaning, organizing, and errands. I think we all would benefit from adding these mini getaways into our yearly routine. I had to say goodbye to Santa Barbra, but I’ll be back!
Live life, have fun, and enjoy new experiences!
XOXO
