Happy Friday! Yall this is another season of change! Me not letting fear direct my steps, but instead staring it in the face and moving forward anyways. I am only human so sometimes doubt creeps in my human mind, but I am doing my absolute best to not let fear, the idea of failing, or uncertainty sway my decisions. I am jumping and trying, and seeing where new experiences take me!
A few months ago my friend Elle, who is a choreographer, and podcaster (Your Glow’d Up Ex found on Apple and Spotify & for video YouTube) asked me if I wanted to be a part of a dance heels workshop! The first thing that came out of my mouth was, “Are you sure me?” and she said yes, so I said yes to her enthusiasm and now we have held 3 workshops together so far. Luckily with her the ideas flow back and forth so quickly and seamlessly, and amazingly enough we usually have the same idea of what we want to add to the workshop.
The thing is initially when I said yes, I had no clue what I was adding to this new venture, but I knew I could add something I just didn’t exactly know what that something was. I knew it was something I wanted to do, it felt like the perfect project to be a part of, so I jumped, wheeeeee! And I am glad I did!!
The 1St Workshop was Find Your Sexy:
The workshop focused on stretching (Dr. Corrin Harris an amazing chiropractor led the stretch). She was very informative and provided tips to the dancers regarding what they can do on their own for body upkeep. The workshop focused on helping dancers to get out of their head with a dance across the floor exercise. Foundational heels moves and a choreographed piece was taught, and at the end of the workshop each person had portraits taken in the sexy outfit of their choosing. We wanted each person to feel and be their version of sexy.
The 2nd Workshop was Embrace Your Sexy:
The workshop focused on drilling heels foundations, provided different dance exercises to assist with getting everyone out of their head yet again, a choreographed piece was taught, we touched a tad on freestyle, and taught videography.
The 3rd Workshop was a Labor Day Popup filled with Tricks, Transitions & Freestyle:
The workshop focused on teaching chair tricks, proper stretching for flexibility and to prepare for dance tricks, transitions to get to the floor smoothly, and transitions to get up with flare. At the end we had each dancer freestyle using the moves they learned throughout the workshop, and they slayyyyyed! The goal was and is always to instill confidence in each person, because the more knowledge a person has the more they are able to trust themselves with how they move and be more confident with themselves.
There will definitely be more heels workshops to come! Dates TBD!
Remember even if you don’t have all of the answers yet, and you only have an idea of what you want to do, say yes to the idea, say yes to you, and take every little step possible so that your idea will become a reality.
Wishing you all confidence in yourself and your abilities! Let’s change our lives for the better!
Much love,
Gabrielle
