As we know Halloween is all about tricks and treats, so I decided to make this month’s blog all about treats! Sharing with you coffee, gelato, and little treats that I like to eat in Southern California!
Porto’s Bakery
If you have never been to Porto’s it is an absolute delight. They have everything from savory to sweet treats, coffee to strawberry matcha, and freshly baked bread loaves that you can buy and take home. My favorite food items to get here are cheese rolls (a cheese filled puff pastry), their mango mousse bomb, and I can’t leave without ordering some potato balls (think mashed potatoes, Cuban style ground beef, onion, bell pepper, olive, and seasonings fried in a ball of amazing goodness).
Savory Options
Mango Mousse Bomb
Vitaly
Vitaly is located in Costa Mesa,CA at The Camp. I typically come here for coffee or gelato, but they do also serve Italian food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So whether you want to soothe your sweet tooth, or your hunger you can stop by for all things Italian.
Gelato
Vanilla Latte
Good Town Doughnuts & Nook Coffee Bar
Good Town Doughnuts and Nook Coffee Bar are located at The Lab in Costa Mesa, CA. On the doughnut front, if you are interested in fun, tasty flavors this is definitely the place to try. The doughnut pictured above is lime pistachio, oh so sweet, oh so tasty!! As for Nook, they have flavorful lattes and they have a good strawberry matcha as well. So whether you are in the mood for coffee or tea, you have options baby!
Susie Cakes & Portola Coffee Lab
Susie Cakes (has many locations throughout California) & Portola Coffee Lab are located at SoCo Collection & The OC Mix. If you love chocolate chip cookies this is the place to go!! Their cookies, cupcakes, and cake slices are absolutely lovely. I have no complaints about this place, and have been stopping by here for treats since 2011! For cupcakes they usually have a seasonal flavor available (currently: Pumpkin Maple), and then their regular flavors are: Vanilla, Chocolate, Lemon, Coconut, Red Velvet, and a Flourless Chocolate. Pictured next to my favorite cookie is a Rose Cardamon Latte from Portola, a nice blend of sweet, bold, and creamy.
The Merchant
I just recently tried The Merchant in the city of Long Beach. They have a variety of baked goods and sweet coffees to choose from. Baked goods include: croissants, muffins, breakfast sandwiches, and cinnamon rolls. I can’t forget about their seasonal offerings: pumpkin loaf, maple chai scone, pumpkin bar, and gingersnap cookie.
Morning Lavender
Morning Lavender is located in Tustin, CA. It is a cafe and boutique in one, shop for cute items and then stop by their cafe for coffee, tea, or milk tea. They also offer afternoon tea services, which includes finger sandwiches, scones, desserts, and tea.
Coffee and Plants
Coffee and Plants is a cute cafe with you guessed it plants all over! Their menu is 100% plant based, and for every 100 cups they sell they plant a tree!! Their coffee flavors range from a classic cappuccino, to a walk on the floral side with their rose latte, or a walk on the unfamiliar with their charcoal latte. They have fun coffee flavors, good eats, and their cafe aesthetic is insta worthy!
AOSA Coffee
AOSA Coffee is in Huntington Beach, CA. They only use organic, eco-friendly products in their cafe, and offer Stumptown Coffee Roasters, açai bowls, and Kombucha on tap.
Coffee, sweet treats, and tea time is a good time. If you visit Southern California and the Beach Cities try out one of these gems and let me know what you think. Treat yourself when you can.
Love your girl,
Gabrielle
