Happy Friday!! How are we already on month three of the year!? Time is flying by y’all!!
The latest on my life! I have been taking dance classes at the studio AfterHours in Costa Mesa, CA since July 2023. I started with Hip Hop classes, and for the past two months I have been taking Reggaeton as well, and a few Heels classes.
A few weeks ago I participated in a dance showcase! My goodness! Initially when I saw the choreography for the dance I said, “yeah that’s a lot, my brain may not remember all of that!!!” All that flashed before my eyes was the head flipping, and me imagining my glasses flying into the audience, and then regarding some of the transitions I imagined stepping on someone’s foot, or my mind simply going blank, and me just standing there until someone walks me off the stage, hahaha. Okay I know, dramatic, and I also realized that these were all worst-case scenarios. I love to dance, so eventually I said yes.
The dance for the showcase was a Reggaeton piece, just think, fast, constant movements, while still trying to have some sexy swag. No deer in headlights look on my face allowed, which is what usually happens when the choreography is not computing in my brain.
Now, for three weeks I originally thought as a group we were only doing one dance, and then the week before the showcase I realized we were doing two shows per day, and instantly anxiety creeped over me! So, four dances total for the weekend! Jesus help me!
It was nerve racking, but exciting at the same time. I have never done something like this before, and the group of ladies I got to dance with was fun and encouraging, and they are my newest set of friends that I thoroughly enjoy spending time with. Our dance teacher and friend, Eliana was absolutely amazing teaching us this piece, and she definitely brings the energy! It was a fun experience I would totally do it again.
You will still catch me attending dance classes every week, usually two per week, and once in a while three. This week I did Heels, Hip Hop, and today I am scheduled for Reggaeton!!
If there is something you want to do in your life, do not chicken out, just try It, I am sure you will have an amazing time!
Let us bloom into a better version of ourselves baby! We have to move for change to happen.
Muah,
Gabrielle

Love that you faced your anxieties and showed up and showed out! Makes me think about tackling some of my own worst case scenario thinking with my hobbies. Thanks for the transparency : )
