Life has become very monotonous for me, I work, I eat, I sleep, and I do it all over again Monday through Friday. The majority of Sunday nights I am already looking forward to the weekend! Why must I think like this? Then again, I think that this is a place that many of us are in, which is why I wanted to talk about it so we can get through it!
I’m constantly in a state of mind of looking forward to the weekend, because the cycle of work, eat and sleep has exhausted my spirit. Life has become so routine, and your girl has been desperately in need of change. To help with my “work week blues” I have altered my weekday routine, and over the past month and a half “Operation Sanity” was initiated and is still in full effect. Step one, each week on a weekday I either grab a bite to eat, walk the beach, or meet up with a friend so that my life doesn’t feel consumed by work. As adults we work, run errands, cook, clean, pay bills, and attempt to get enough sleep to have the energy to complete all of our tasks. Then we look forward to the weekend to live life and have fun. For me adding in spontaneity and little joys during the weekday helps me to not feel like my life is taken over by my job, because baby that is not the life for me!
Step two of Operation Sanity has been listening to gospel music and sermons! Literally a GOD send!!! Getting much needed reminders, feeling uplifted, and connecting with the word of God. I got to tell you for sermons YouTube is your friend. I have been listening to Sarah Jakes Roberts, Michael Todd, and Steven Furtick. I appreciate each of their styles, and personalities because they are engaging, humorous, and real with their delivery. Now, if you are not quite ready to buckle up for an hour or so sermon, they all each have shorter videos you can watch for quick moments of inspiration, you will not regret it, so prepare for anywhere between 12-30 minutes of enlightenment.
Now y’all I love music!! Can I sing well? Nope! Can I play an instrument? Not at all! But I can listen, and move my body. I enjoy a variety of music genres, but lately my mornings consist of listening to Gospel, and Christian R&B. It has been keeping my mind focused, and has allowed me to move towards the mindset of letting go, and letting God when things are completely out of my control. Let me keep it real, now my music is later followed up by Cardi B, Doja Cat, Bruno Mars, Chris Brown, Lizzo, and Imagine Dragons, I can go on and on so I’ll stop there. Music for me depends on my mood and my needs, and I need me some Jesus!!! I even created a Gospel & Christian R&B Playlist that has been helping me out on my “patience journey,” and getting through the week, so I’ll share what my mornings sound like, here you go!

Life is quite the journey, it is filled with ups, downs, confusion, frustration, excitement, security, and joy. There is much that we don’t have control over, but we do have control over how we behave and how we speak. With all of the twists and turns find ways to have more moments of joy in your life, do not let your job consume you, change your routine if needed, and pray a little more. Wishing you all the best month ahead!
Love your girl!!
