Happy New Year! We are 9 days into the new year, and lately I have noticed that many of the people in my life, posts on social media, and even how I have been thinking is that this is the year we are going for whatever we want. There have been more conversations focused on trying things that have never been done, creating more, making ideas come to life instead of keeping them on paper or in our heads, and trying things not knowing 100% how to do it.
This is a year of change, because what I do know is that I absolutely do not want a replay of 2025. I did have fun moments, lovely new experiences, and I learned many lessons that I am glad to say have stuck. Goodbye and thank you to 2025 for opening my eyes to what I do not need, and to what I need more of.
Lessons I learned in 2025:
- Do not overwork/overextend myself
- Doing too much of what I enjoy can still drain me
- Take time for myself to rest
- Pour more into myself
- Choose wisely who I give my energy to
- Take more chances and move with more faith
With my job working in mental health, being a part of many creative projects, training in dance a few days a week, and making time for friends, along with my own side projects my schedule can easily fill up. I work 6 days a week and on my free day I am usually working on solo projects and/or doing photography for someone or helping with creating a video. So overextending and overdoing can easily happen. What I started doing this new year is scheduling “nothing days” on my calendar for the month. A day that is completely off limits to anyone but me. This way my “nothing day” can be whatever I want it to be, and if any person asks if I am available my answer is no. This allows me to rest, organize, go on solo dates, or work on a project of my choosing. This year I am choosing to make myself my #1 priority so I can create more, so that I have time and energy to make my own ideas come to life, and to live my life for me.
I look forward to seeing what 2026 brings us all, because the lessons have been learned which allows for old patterns and cycles to be released. Let’s make this an amazing year, where your beautiful ideas come true, where you are not placed on the back burner, where you choose wisely where your time and energy goes, where you allow yourself to have more faith in yourself and what you bring to each room you enter.
Happy New Year! Wishing y’all more love, joy, opportunities, and excitement in your life.
Much love,
Gabrielle

I enjoyed reading your post and I will have to agree 2026 is the year for focusing on yourself. To have more days dedicated to yourself-solely.To wake up and rest and to spend the day 100% filled the way you choose. So here is to 2026, the year to put yourself first. However, that looks like for each individual!!!
